Sally Stearns Mills [1933? - 2000?]

Sally Stearns Mills

I remember Sally Stearns, with her long pigtails and babushka, when she began kindergarten at Madison Elementary in January 1939 through her graduation, January 1951, from Lakewood High School, Lakewood, Ohio. Along the way, Sally acquired most every award. She excelled in sports (not too much for girls in those days), school activities, and of course studies. (As I remember, she never failed to get an “A”.)

More importantly, in her unassuming way, with endless charm, Sally set the “bar” very high in everything she did, which, for me, was always quite challenging but never quite reachable. That “bar,” and Sally, have always been an inspiration from the first day we met in 1939.

Though, it’s been over 50 years since I last met with Sally, she and all her classmates are well remembered.
